AA Lhassa

Kurchan, Ferrari-Hardoy et Bonet
1938
The AA Lhassa armchair, made with Tibetan lamb fur, offers absolute comfort, perfect for relaxation. Softness, warmth, and coziness are the three words that come to mind when sitting in the Lhassa cover. It’s a moment of pure pleasure… and its sleek design fits effortlessly into any interior. The AA armchair is a modern design classic, recognized for its clean lines and elegant silhouette. Its lightweight metal frame supports a seat created with a taut cover available in various materials (cotton, linen, leather, Batyline, cowhide, etc.), providing both lightness and versatility. Its steel wire structure ensures a comfortable seat while delivering a contemporary style that integrates seamlessly into any interior. Made from quality materials, the AA armchair combines durability and comfort, making it a popular choice in designer furniture. The AA armchair is a reissue of the original version created in 1938 by Catalan architect Antoni Bonet and Argentines Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy, former collaborators of Le Corbusier. Its success was immediate, as their creation was added to the permanent collection of MoMA in New York as early as 1940. Following Artek-Pascoe and Knoll, it is the French publisher Airborne that continues the success of this design classic today. Originally known as the “BFK” chair, Airborne renamed it the “AA Chair” in the 1950s, in reference to Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, the oldest French architecture magazine. In addition to the original leather covers, new fabrics with the famous central white stitching, which would become the brand’s hallmark, were introduced: linen, cotton, as well as technical fabrics like Batyline, expanding the color palette and allowing for fabrics suited to outdoor use. To date, over 61 different models are available to dress the AA chair©! Since the AA chair© cover is removable, you can purchase interchangeable covers separately to instantly change the look of your chair! Covers can be swapped according to seasons, tastes, and trends. Each steel wire frame is engraved with AA© followed by the year of manufacture. Each cover is signed AA by Airborne, a trademark registered by Airborne as well as AA. Made in France.
