The Tramas Rug in Black by GAN Rugs, designed by Romero & Vallejo, explores the expressive potential of material combinations and textile construction. This piece reinterprets the concept of weaving, deconstructing traditional frameworks to create a renewed visual language where structure, rhythm and texture become the central design elements.
Crafted through a meticulous design process, Tramas combines different materials, colors and densities to achieve a highly graphic and architectural composition. The dense, soft surface of felt introduces warmth and comfort, while its combination with wool generates subtle tactile contrasts and a rich sense of visual depth.
The result is a deceptively simple yet highly sophisticated rug, where the weave behaves almost like a piece of graphic art. Much like painting or design composition, it creates an illusion of volume and three-dimensionality, both visually and spatially, reinforcing its presence within the interior.
Part of GAN’s Felt Rug series, Tramas is rooted in the traditional technique of carded wool, water and pressure— a centuries-old method used by nomadic cultures. This process is known for its insulating qualities and its ability to enable rich experimentation with embroidery, appliqué and die-cut effects, giving each collection a unique identity despite a shared heritage.
The Tramas collection is also available in a Silver version and comes in two sizes: 170 × 240 cm and 200 × 300 cm.
