A true icon of the seventies, Michel Ducaroy’s Togo sofa and armchair (1925–2009) have aged without losing their charm. With its intentionally wrinkled, pleated design, the Togo remains strikingly modern. Produced by the French maison Ligne Roset since 1973, the Togo has become one of the most emblematic pieces of contemporary design. In Brussels and beyond, Togo and Ligne Roset are inseparable for lovers of high-end furniture.
A Furniture Revolution Since 1973
First unveiled at the Salon des Arts Ménagers in Paris, the Togo stunned audiences with its low silhouette, generous folds, and absence of a rigid frame. Michel Ducaroy received the René Gabriel Award, honoring innovative and accessible furniture. The design relies on three different foam densities, without a frame or legs, creating exceptional enveloping comfort that naturally follows the body’s curves.
Inspired by a toothpaste tube folded onto itself, the Togo quickly became a strong, instantly recognizable visual signature in any contemporary interior. Michel Ducaroy also designed the brilliant Kashima sofa, created in 1970 and recently reissued by Ligne Roset.
A Global Bestseller for Ligne Roset
With over 1.5 million units sold, the Togo has become Ligne Roset’s iconic sofa, available as an armchair, lounge chair, 2- or 3-seater sofa, pouf, chaise longue, and modular compositions. Its flexibility allows stylish furnishing of any living space.
Available in over 800 fabrics and leather options, the Togo offers almost limitless customization. The leather version, highly sought after, develops a unique patina over time, enhancing its character. For younger design enthusiasts, the Mini Togo faithfully reproduces the original design, introducing a new generation to the comfort and style of this icon.

French Craftsmanship and Historical Expertise
The Togo is entirely made in France at Ligne Roset’s historic workshops in Briord, located between Lyon and the Alps. Founded in 1860 by Antoine Roset as a cane and umbrella workshop, the company gradually shifted to contemporary furniture after World War II. Each piece is crafted with artisanal care, from foam cutting to upholstery sewing, ensuring quality, comfort, and durability.

Digital Certificate of Authenticity: Protecting an Icon
Due to its worldwide popularity, the Togo is one of the most copied sofas in the world. To protect this creation, Ligne Roset provides a digital certificate of authenticity, with a unique ID and secure digital passport accessible via QR code. This certificate guarantees traceability, authenticity, and long-term value, and can be transferred in case of resale.
